DUMBO OFFICE COMPLEX LOOKING TO BREAK RECORD RENTS IN BROOKLYN MARKET

Real estate development and investment firm Midtown Equities has high hopes for the new office project it is readying on the Brooklyn waterfront in Dumbo, and with good reason. The property is the long-awaited conversion of a 150-year-old coffee warehouse on the East River into 500,000 square feet of high-end office and retail space in a project called Empire Stores.

In an effort to entice creative and technology companies, the owner is rolling out a campaign aimed at gaining the building plenty of buzz prior to the property’s planned completion in about six months. A leasing team from brokerage company Jones Lang LaSalle, led by brokers Scott Panzer and Howard Hersch, is sending out handsome coffee-table books detailing the project along with bottles of Brooklyn-distilled whiskey.
